Thanks for writing the article, Michele, it put scale into perspective for me.
I disagree, or should I agree, which is politically correct? Thanks for giving me soooo much credit, you guys do the kind of art that people should stand up and salute to. And that's a fact. Don't make a point of it to alert the world that this is published on April 1....you know, April fools day. It's no joke baby!
April First, when? I won't tell anybody. You did the article and we are the better for it!
Okay, everybody scoot on over and read Michele's article-she put a lot of work into it.
Will do.. will do.. Ron you put those red accents in the right spot. Makes this piece zing. I like everything about this one: compostion, color of the trees, grass, the teenagers in the back seat. This has it all!
Thanks, W.K. I used aquarelle pencils a little bit-they are fun.
Thanks for the link on the 'scale article'.
A fun and interesting read indeed!
Love the way you softened the background behind the top of the vehicle in 'Grazin'....
gives a sense of heat emanating from the rusty car roof.
Nice!
Thanks, Jennifer, I guess scale is the thing, I intuitively understood it as part of the "mechanics" but had never considered it as an over-arching principle. Probably everything is a sub-category of scale if scale is the "thing" which allows for the successful transference of the image from mind to matter. From your brain to the paper/canvas..
I came here through Michelle's blog and I read her article on scale thus finding these fantastic paintings!
I LOVE the old car paintings! So beautiful. You have certainly mastered color and composition.
Thanks, Mary, I appreciate the visit and nice comment!
The missing link in the article to your blog has been alerted to the editor of Zine. Hope it gets repaired quickly.
Thanks, Michele!
Great article Michele! You are passionate about the arts enough to invest your time and energy to bring two examples as a way of developing your theme. thx!
Which examples, W.K.? Anybody we know?
Ron - Thanks for the link. I enjoyed Michele's article very much -
Coming from NM I tend to favor Georgia O'Keffe who used scale to, as she put it, force people to look at her flowers.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Cara.
