I think this is great! For a loose sketch, the structure is terrific and the lighting dead on.

Thanks, Grimm.

Ron ! Please pardon the pun (considering the subject matter) but this little sketch really flows. Glad you posted it.

About revisiting a style - I have a few pieces I wish I could repaint again because I have emotional attchments to them but I don't for fear I'll not be able to capture where my heart was at that time. And that would make me sad.

Thanks, Cara, I guess because I paint inanimate subjects, the emotional involvement is not as much of an issue. But the enthusiasm/excitement factor energizes the program. I paint better when I'm buzzed up.

Good one Ron.. restraint of the color palette is a nice contrast.

some old stuff rocks, better to move on, besides trying to recapture an old style is way to difficult. i've tried--doesn't work

Nice lighting and contrasts.

Buzzed up? Hmmmm.... with what?

I started to repaint a previously finished painting. I thought I could do a better job since I had more experience. Well, half way in, it wasn't turning out as good as the first, so I aborted the project.

Thanks, W.K., so many ways of doing it- I confuse myself.

Michele, as we say to the concrete truck drivers,"Go ahead, back up!" Maybe that is a bit of philosophical sophism...gosh, I'll provide concrete evidence later...

Thanks, Michelle, buzzed up on life what else?

Every now and then a client asks me to paint something like I did something long ago. It never bothers me. The only objection I've ever had is when I'm asked to paint like some other living illustrator. Then I say hire that person.

Anyway, nice picture. I like the bold use of whites. It's good to see some older stuff of yours.

Still, I think Cara has a good point.

Thanks for stopping by Newnorth.

Thanks, Tom, I tell people when they ask for something "good" to hire another living painter.

I am impressed when the day's comments are so thoughtful and well-considered. When people say what they actually think about things the range of opinions is truly interesting. Thank you everybody!
