I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

So another month.. I let my DP expire just to see what happens.. then I paid.. and all was forgiven. The stand off.. good one Ronski .. or was it Rustski? I'll blow up your painting after I write this.. Ciao-ski!
Yeah.. didn't hurt at all.. a beauty my friend .. 29 days..
You have created a nice "living" blog, W.K.- I guess that is the important thing. The DPs seems to be a place to sell stuff for nothing or not at all. Plus it will influence the way we paint if we want to sell rather than paint the way we want.
Yes, to the DP comment. For awhile I was painting what showed 'green' in the stats. Forget that. I'll paint what I want to paint. If someone likes it enough to 'buy now', that's great. If not, I'll keep them and decorate my life. 'Nuff said about that. :o)
If the idea behind DP is a good one then what turns out to be the problem?
I'm new to this so maybe I need some schoolin' but don't you get a fair amount of blog traffic from a eBay listing link?
Teach me - I'm green...oops sorry thats just paint....
There is a growing industry of artist sponsored activities such as "originals only", garden shows, societies, Christmas fairs, etc, etc... They all pander to artists who need a place to display/market their work. These art blogs are on the surface a fine idea, however when they become collectives, the fun begins. Pay to play and then pay some more. At the prices people are asking (or getting) they usually are not recovering a fraction of their costs. Plus as B.J. said it can easily change the way you paint. My days of giving away paintings are behind me (hopefully). People serious about buying paintings are unlikely to look for them on daily painters. I have not had one serious enquiry about any of my paintings on the Dps. My attitude may be different as I am just looking for a wider viewing audience, I didn't expect sales. I sell my paintings myself and when they go its for significantly more than I would ever get on the DPs. Plus very few people ever visit the DPs and a lot are by accident. I get one second visits all the time and so does everybody else.
I love the car stand off! Is this the same as the one posted before, or a retouch?
I like this one because it's comical to think of a bunch of cars caught up in a gang war. It's not so much "Colors" as it is "West Side Story".
Thanks, Grimm, its a different painting than the other two versions.
After a couple of months of DP.. I can see that all the marketing stuff promised has not really benefited the bottom line of yours truly. DP is a frill for me and an expensive gallery more than anything else. I'm riding for another month and then take the right action(s) as indicated. I've created a sound blog which stands on its own merit, but having alternatives is not a bad thing either.
If I tried to finish one painting on a daily basis, the quality would suffer greatly. I'm just not that fast, I guess, so I can't hop on the DP conversation train, but I can say I like the grass in this painting. Seems to be a bit different. Looks good.
W.K., what would the alternatives be? I'm going to do a proper site with prints etc.
Thanks, Michelle, I guess I should spend more time on the grass or do rocks or something. I'm a lazy painter, I like doing grass washes.
