These Impalas Won't Run Anymore

One trick pony? Maybe that's because your subject matter lacks horse power. Ha ha! Couldn't resist the pun!

Seriously, I love the middle painting, you know me - like the high key stuff.

Thats right, horse around, what a nightmare. You're so clever. Thanks, Cara.

Hmmmm... I think the top one. It looks like a nice, hazy, early-morning-in-the-spring type day.

Ha! Backatcha K.M.M. Cara, say hello to K. K., say hi to Cara. Now that you have been properly introduced, visits may be in order.

Ron Morrison said...

Thanks, Michelle. Michelle say hello to K. K. say hello to Michelle. See, another intro and possible cyber friends.

Ron Morrison said...

Okay, here's my point. I enjoy chatting with my commenting buddies. I miss them when they don't say Hi. I know its silly but I do. Sometimes I say hello on other sites and I see the same names for months and we never talk. I'm introducing another policy- the introduction to other commenters policy, aka "say hello, it won't kill you". Our say no to O's campaign was fabulously successful, so hopefully this new policy will get results.

Ron.. looks like kee don't play no more... -- I like no. 1. More subdued palette strikes my fancy this morning. Hey I think WC might start making some of your regulars jealous.... Just think how crazy life will be with 2 regulars...

Thanks, W.K. So Kee just shut'er down? Didn't go traveling?

Here’s what I’ve been thinking for some time now. I wish blogs had a tool to use for when a person is just visiting but wants to be identified. There are lots of sites I visit but I don’t always leave a comment for a variety of reasons. May be art is not something I’d comment on either way but still, I was there. Maybe the art is so awesome I’d feel like a fool making a patronizing comment on the technique when it far exceed my level of expertise, but still I was there. Some blogs I visit so often that I sometimes run out of original things to say, but still I was there too.
Not everyone has created such a comfortable atmosphere as you have Ron so I’m guilty of being a blog peeping tom at times.
Maybe we need to invent a code word for “just visiting”…maybe it could be a concentrated push to do what you suggested – just saying “hi”.
Personally, I’d be just fine with some one leaving a one word “Hi!” in my comment section. I’d just like to see who they were so I could return the favor of a visit

Excellent idea Cara, its so simple, just say Hi. "Liked the pic", doesn't have to be profound.

Hiiiii everyone... I thought we were just supposed to pretend no one else existed on these pages but now, the doors have been open! :p

okay, I like the top one bestest. It just looks calm and soothing. Also it has your signature on it, what more could you want?

Thanks, N.N. Evan, eh?

Okay, I'm on board.

Cara - You so eloquently said what I've been thinking for a long time. I'm a lurker at times because I can't always think of something new to write and feel like your proverbial "broken record". Just a "Hi" would be enough to let someone know you're still looking.

The conversations that sometimes arise that are completely off topic are fun, too.

Ron - Your blog is definitely the most welcoming in the blog-o-sphere. I know even if I come here and don't "stroke your ego", I'll still receive a response to my comment. That's not the case with other blogs I USED to visit. You rule!

Hello, K. K. Nice to cyber-meet you. I will visit your blog now...

Ron Morrison said...

I only post the paintings as an excuse to chat. When I first installed the trackers I could see who dropped in and didn't say anything. There would be a positive response one day and then silence until I posted a similar style of painting. I thought this was particularly galling because I was being judged and found wanting. It would go like this, "Love this painting, linked you up." Then maybe a comment or two and then silence but continued visits. Or as I say a comment when a similar type of painting was posted. You don't have to think every painting is a masterpiece but the silence can be deafening.

And whine.

Michelle said...

Would you rather have so called constructive criticism from someone who stopped by but didn't really like a painting or would you rather them not comment?

I received an odd comment once which I didn't know if it was a compliment or a criticism. It was weird. It was from someone new, so I just kind of ignored it.

Compliments are always nice as long as they seem sincere. Criticism is not so nice. I don't know if I would like doing an art show for that reason. I wouldn't want to hear the rude comments.

Ron Morrison said...

Good questions. First, its very unlikely anyone would say anything unkind about your work. I do lots of shows and people say they don't like the subject matter, "I wouldn't have that in the house!" But it just makes me laugh, I get so much positive attention from people who like what I do that I have a certain amount of confidence and genuinely find some of the comments amusing. However I do get ignored all the time and that I find almost intolerable. Would I rather have no comment than criticism? Yes, I don't feel that most people are qualified to critique my paintings and I am very aware of their shortcomings(my paintings shortcomings). However if someone can help me pleeeze do. I never criticize paintings on the blogosphere and there are lots of terrible paintings. I didn't think that was the purpose of posting. I thought it was a take it or leave it kind of thing but hold your tongue.

Ron Morrison said...

Actually doesn't old Milfy tell me I stink quite regularly?

Cara said...

I can't imagine what it would take to have the gall to leave critisim on someone's blog. I have seen a blog where someone might ask for opinions and occasionally advice but if its not asked for it shouldn't be left. If I wanted critisim I would have stayed married the first time - ha!

But seriously, I sgree whole heartedly with Michelle, you make us all feel very comfortable here and I appreciate it.

DarkWing said...

I hate all your work.......it fills me with jealousy! heee hee hee :p

Ron Morrison said...

Ha! Somebody finally got it right, except for the jealousy part. Nothing here to be jealous about.

Thanks for all the comments, we had an interesting discussion and I think thats important.

I like em all (did I ever mention I was indecisive?)..but the middle one really talks to me. Ever consider other subjects? I found this on daily painters and thought your colors and style could really do a nice impression of this subject (http://www.mollybrose.com/mollyblog.html)

Ron Morrison said...

Thanks, Holly, I'll look. If you go back in my blog there are paintings of other things. Thanks for saying Hi on the Wet Canvas.

You know, if your Uncle wasn't such a damn good gardener I'd have a hard time liking him.

Ron Morrison said...

Consider this, Cara, he's been annoyed for thirty seven years, never has gotten over the fact that I married his niece. He's not my uncle. He's not anything, actually.

The one in the middle. You can almost feel the rusticity! You have the metalurgy conquered.

Ron Morrison said...

Thanks, B.J., how are things in Georgia?

bj said...

Things in Georgia are heating up. Weather is hot and dry. Summer down South, you know.

I haven't posted in several days - been working on a big art show at the local history/heritage center. Hope I can get back to the easel very soon. Promotion and marketing are the blight and bain of artists everywhere.

My husband's blog (which seemingly he had abandoned) got a message yesterday from promotions people at a local car race track. They are asking for his old photos to be used on the track's website and in a newspaper article. Looks like we'll be scanning and posting car stuff again.

www.racerdaves.blogspot.com in case anyone wants to look at the car stuff.

Thanks, Ron, for your artwork. My life has always been surrounded by cars in all forms. You give them a special touch - a personality that comes from your obvious love of the metal beasties. :o)

Ron Morrison said...

Thanks, B.J., its going to flood on mainland B.C. High water alerts everywhere.

Madison Moore said...

Ok Ron, I'm starting to get it now! Carla,I can't seem to get contact with you. I looked but I was tired so maybe I had one eye closed. Loved the Paco story. Hi everyone. Being new to DP and needing friends, Ron has been so great in hooking me up and teaching me the ropes.. What a guy!" Thanks Ron. I'm a little slow with response until I get this restoration done, but I'm around.

I don't see any Cadyy Seville Roadster Classics in your work. LOL
Love todays work.
