I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

The values... this for me is a great value study. From dark darks to light lights. Also the dark patterns are nicely connected. Plus the cars are rendered in the inimitable Rajah style!
Thanks W.K.,- I'm sad today, my friend died.
Sorry to hear that!... may you get through it with great strength.
Love these old junked cars...of course I remember them when they were new. You do a great job capturing the patina of rust and dust.
Thanks Louis, I just enjoy painting them.
Dear Ron--So sorry for your loss, but for many people you are filling up the world with beautiful things, of which there are fewer and fewer every day. I owned this car. It was 2 toned green, had fuzzy seats, tortoise shell window handles, and the best part was a phenomenal tube radio which was worth the price of the car alone. It killed all sound so well you felt like you were in a sound studio or a Hitchcock movie at all times.

I used to drive it from Waterbury to New Milford (the beach) on weekends.
Thank you Michele and W.K. I kept one of those radios that you mention, Michele, but the support system (the car)is gone.
Hey Ron: Thanks for checking in you cheered me up! I attended a funeral on sunday for a good artist friend of mine, Tanner McCarron, He left the best comments and was a good painting buddy. I will miss him. So I feel your pain man.
This painting is excellent. I love the reflected light bouncing off the rear window and the surrounding junk and stuff. There is alot of interest for me in this painting.
Thanks Robin.
This painting has a real sense of time & place. Value variables, 2-D shadows and 3-D vehicles all work to complete a very strong whole.
Thanks, Jeanie.
