I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

The car in the barn seems to be looking forlornly on the Oldsmobile that has its back to it. A nice moody one as I see it.
I'm going to follow all your links tomorrow to see what I can see. I've bookmarked The Daily Painters' Marketplace. Wait, I've put the apostrophe in the wrong place. No it's plural, so I'm right and they're wrong, not that I'm flawless.
This Olds was a commission subject that I added to my stable of actors. Anthropomorphism is the order of the day with these characters. Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful blue Ron. It gives very lively feeling to a this Olds.
I had to delete previous post - I caught the wrong spelling!
Thanks, Kee.
NIce. I like the background in this one.
Ron I do believe you are enjoying yourself... if your painting is an indication. Fun perhaps even? The red verticals in the background play very well with the body of the car and define it in an elegant way. Blue background - blue car.. red works! The piece works as a whole unit with nothing really lacking. Solid Jackson!
Thanks, Michelle, Just doodlin, doodlin...(maybe old doodles?)Okay you forced it outa me- I chopped this out of a bigger failure I did a coupla years ago-searching,searching for something to post. Ahhh that was cleansing. Wait a minute, I do it all the time! Well, once in a while. Oh golly I'm a cheater.
Hey, W.K., I'm okay. I thank you for seeing these things in the painting. I chopped it down from something I did a while ago. I saw the things you mentioned and figured it was worth a look. I don't think people really notice- I feel I've run the course with my stuff a lot of people come by and don't say anything-but its what I enjoy doing. I'm heading for 100 posts and maybe thats enough.
Glad to hear it... 100 posts bah! That's just begining. That's a great milestone and a tip o' the hat ol' friend don't get me wrong.. but you have loyal fans now to think of...
I appreciate the support, W.K.
Don't install any tracking devices because you can see who comes by and doesn't consider your work worthy-it gets personal. I've been painting for a long time and have become used to being ignored but when you know who exactly is being snotty its annoying.
I have an idea.. - you have some fans who don't post on my site anymore.. and the feelings mutual I'm sure.. ;-)
Before I blow up the picture, there aren't any snakes in all that tall grass are there?
When I was young(er) my friends and I used to do a lot of hiking and it was common to run across old cars. But usually the rattle of the new occupants tail kept us from getting too close.
At the risk of repeating myself with each post - great painting!

Hi, Cara, now that you mention it a lot of my subjects resided in the interior of B.C. where ruttlers are common--don't know why we called them ruttlers. I saw a little garter snake eat a frog this morning. And then I had a peanut butter sangy for lunch and then I had a nap....wait a minute this isn't my diary is it?
Sorry bout that- sometimes the clutch slips a bit. Thanks for repeating!
Now Ron, had you not told anyone, we'd all think it was a new painting. That's ok. New perspective on an old painting is good, too.
So, how big is your stack of paintings, anyway? If you've been doing this since the 70's (giggle, giggle), it must completely fill at least one room in your home.
As for the tracking...you shouldn't feel bad if people who stop by don't always comment. I'm sure it doesn't mean they don't like the painting. At least they're still stopping by, right?
You can't stop at 100. You're on my regular internet route. That would throw everything off.
Its not that simple, Michelle. I do appreciate the regular visitors and commenters even if they don't comment all the time. Its the agenda commenters that piss me off and they know who they are. Its a flinch first policy-I won't comment until you comment. Post a painting and then go gushing and fishing for return gushes while ignoring people who supported them in the lean commenting times. We started "the say no to 0s" campaign for fun- lots of people play fair but there are some who don't.
Aaaah. I see now. Guess I'm too new to this blogging thing to have noticed the "Agenda Bloggers". So, have you ever called these people on what they're doing? Expose them for the internet dipsh*t's that they are.
Can't we all just blog along? ;-)
I am tempted to say something, Michelle, but as per your suggestion a la Rodney King, I try to maintain proper blogging etiquette. The hypocrisy is quite obvious to the involved parties I'm sure. Its like everything in life, I guess you gotta take the good with the stupid. A smart person would just ignore and carry on. I think I'll try that.
Ignoring the ignoring is that a double neg..no its a compounding..no its reedickyewlus.
Wow, looks like there are snakes in the grass all around town. I like this painting and the blue is sort of dreamy-ish 50's nostalgia. To me, here's a solo mini. I think you should do some as postcard size as many DP's do and buy it now. They would rock! Here's a thought for you..another dreamy car like this but as a surprise, a few juicy ruttlers weaving in an out of empty headlights and exhaust pipes. Am I weird enough for you?
Not weird, Michele, creative, inventive, innovative, alright a little weird but I mean that in the best sense of the word-honest.
Now there's some fans for you! Something to fan the flames with... next stop 100...
I want to see a solo mini post card size with buy it now. Am I pushy or what?
Yes, W.K., accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative...
Grashus, Michele, I'm all nervous now I'm under pressure...
Well, I guess I'm one of the snakes in the grass. Sorry Ron, time is precious to me. I've figured out that you don't want a superfluous or meaningless comment and being alot less creative writer and not nearly as literate as you guys I find myself spending way to much time leaning on my fist thinking of something more substantial to say when I could be painting. It does'nt matter if you comment on my site or not, I think you are a very talented artist. I would love to see you focus your energies on kicking out some great new work.
Hey , you got alot of loyal fans who are willing to stay up all night and post comments, that ain't bad. You know I'm new to this blogging relationship thing. I had no idea it could be like this, where people get mad, and theres these clicks of bloggers and stuff. Its just like real life only on a typewriter.
Well, I failed pretty miserably in real life relationships, I guess it will be the same in cyberworld. Don't hold being a dipsh*t against me and I won't hold it against you.
Robin, You know we've all failed in relationships, one time, many times. I don't think blogging is about relationships. hmmm...I feel that posting on each other's blogs keeps us aware that we are not solitary beings floating in cyberspace--a fate worse than death to an artist who seeks chat amongst his peers. The magic fingers of the web of painters able to give an eye on the ground to each other touch us to make us smile, laugh or get pissed off. That's the way it should be. Personally, I don't think customers want or need to read our shop-talk. That's not what they are interested in. But I do think it's ok to be interested in each other. If we all lived in the same town and met at a local cafe, wouldn't we be doing the same thing?
