I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Ah the boneyard... Ron what's behind hood #3? Or should I say under... Using Arches CP 140 - the paper of champions? I've got a bunch of that paper and I'm going to dig into it again soon. Oh yeah the painting... Ron.. great color choice as usual.. remember WN paint only .. no paper. Composition - led eye around hoods and back to shack - check .. interesting yep -checkmate... Good job my friend!
Nice coloring on this one. Very rustic feel to it. Beautiful Ron.
W.K., I always use 140 Arches cp front or back. But Fabriano, W.H.Saunders, Strathmore are softer but good I think. I just settled on Arches because its readily available and I'm familiar with it. I've used all of the above and more including Grumbacher, Whatford...
A "rust"-ic feel, so obvious, how could I have missed it all these years. Maybe I have used it but I've forgotten. But now I'm gonna use it. Kee, you are an etymologist as well as a fine judge of all things artistic. How about "rusticated"?,"rustified"? in God we t"rust"? -okay now I'm just being silly.
Rustation, rustaceous, rustosis, rustient, rustility, rustiverous, rustilarian, rustiquitous and the always poular -rusty..rustify, rusticate, rustiment, "The Old Rustiment",rustivity, rustuous, rustilent....
Nice backlighting.
How nice of you to mention that particular element of the composition, Michelle. Whats backlighting? My father-in-law once shone a flashlight on my back as I was running across his lawn at 2 a.m.- not to mention the shotgun he was loading. Flashing and loading, he was quite co-ordinated. My back his target. Is that back lighting?
Thanks, Michelle, I know what you mean.
Are these the "boys from the hood". This is definitely a romantic painting.
Ha! He must not have been too coordinated if he didn't get that shotgun loaded while holding the flashlight. hee hee.
Yes it is, Michele.
Thats okay, he referred to me as Don for the next 26 years- he never really cared much for me, if he cudda killed me and gotten away with it, he would have.
That's pretty good Ron..
I like rustaceous, rustiverous and rustosis.
Rusticity? or bucolic rutilant mobile.
Kee, sometimes I get rutilant after too much wine.
