I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Ron.. is that a 54 or 52..? I had a red one of those with the little rounded side windows in the back. It had vacuum windshield wipers and a floor starter. It was cool but I was too lazy to fix it up. Imagine a 29 year old kid in Arizona knocking around - wild, reckless, broke... but living life all the way up. Your painting brought that back.. thanks man!
You're welcome. We had fun today.
Hell yeah.. we did!
Ron, I owned this truck. Yes Bill, it was a '54. I adored the floor starter button. Mine was a 5 window with the two little curved windows on the back. Yes, going up a hill, you would lose the vaccuum pressure & the windshield wipers would not work uphill. I bought mine in Natalia, Texas and drove it to Santa Monica CA and actually got a speeding ticket on the way. When my Calif mechanic saw it he did nothing but laugh and said it was held together with bailing wire! I fixed mine up, drove it for 5 years and sold it for a pretty fair amount of money (to my shock). Everytime I see one, my heart skips a beat. I would have kept it because it was very zippy but it would pop into neutral on the freeway (no fun in Calif). You need to put this painting aside for me and send me an email with the price.
hang on, I'll find a proper wrap around model and I'll do that.
Love, love love your work! I found you through such a series of clicks that would make you dizzy. But it ended with Robin Wiess's page. Great stuff - I'm storing your address so I can return.
Please allow me to correct myself - Robins last name is Weiss. Sorry Robin!
Thanks for stopping by, Cara, there's generally quite a bit of silliness in the comment department of this blog, mainly on my part, but I also have several accomplices who make it a lot of fun. Feel free to participate. I ride a 1981 FLH which I restored myself.
Wow! The old truck looks just great! It is the one my husband, Dave, wants to make into a 'rat rod'. That means frame, running gear, engine are top notch, but you leave the body kind of junky. Lots of fun. You did a GREAT job of giving the truck lots of personality. :o)
TThanks,B.J., I love rat rods.
Ron, Nice painting. I like the brushworks through out the truck's body. Cool truck.
Thanks, Kee.
