Thanks J.Q.-you understand this silliness.

A study in green. Good job bringing down the green of the trees into the paint of the car and then into the foreground. You also gave the car a personality... just check out those eyes. An excellent on the foreground foliage and the rendering of the flowers and other growing things. Some controlled spatter?

Ron,

Congrats on your recent show! Hope it was a huge success.
I love the overall unified greens in this watercolor.
Once again, you beautifully push and pull the simple large shapes with soft and hard edges. I agree with Bill, the car has personality, an almost 'human' aspect to it.

I hear from other w/cers that greens are a dilemma-they avoid using them. One of them an entirely excellent technician. I never realized how green my paintings are. But I don't mind green at all- I never use green from the tube except for mixing with red for browns. I do use cobalt green.

Yes W.K., I thought it was anthropomorphic-an ol timer settling in for a long rust. I can't believe I paint old cars, but without a favourite subject I never would have learned to paint a little bit. I thought it would be fun to make a buck selling people something goofy that they had a connection to. In real life I do something so brutally practical that the painting is therapy.

Jennifer, I know my paintings are dopey but that is what appeals to me about the whole thing. I want to produce well crafted fun. I think Bill and I share the comedy factor about our work. I figured if I could paint old wrecks well enough to make them appealing that would be okay.

I think that Bill, Robin and I wait for your comments with equal anticipation-they are sort of like blessings. Is that right fellas?
