I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Very nice, Ron. The birds and the nice sunny day lighting are great for ambiance. The ladder looks good, too.
Thanks, Michelle, I'm going to develop this idea further.
Some good compositional elements going on Ron. Horizontal water interacts with the birds flying to the left.. Boat with the diag walkway... warm... Is this a process of looking at some new directions...? Have I been asleep? I thought I was paying attention! Can't wait to see what you have in store over the next few weeks.
W.K., I have always loved those breezy west coast watercolours,
which may exist only in my mind. Birds flying, waves lapping, trees blowing, summer heat, Snips of glimmering this and that. Do you know Uncle Milty, Milton Zorne?
Zorn may not have an e.
Yes ... will look him up again. Jennifer love him.. I think --
Its Monday, I'm confused, yesterday's 20 year old painting was the all time ratings winner-56 hits. Todays, which has the makings of a good watercolour will probably be the all time stinker, it has a solid red rating. Am I that much out of step with the rest of the world?
Milford Zornes...yeah he rocks and rolls. I was thinking of someone else... Don't know if Jennifer digs his stuff... hmmm. His work requires a second look... to see the underlying excellence.
BTW I've given up on the new DP view meter... Before I was about 90% green.. now I'm 90% yellow... and got a red yesterday with 7 hits. Ha ha ha. Something's afoot!
Thats it Milford Zornes, good man, you! I couldn't find him again, no wonder, somehow he had morphed into Milton Zorn in my failing mind.
Uncle Milfy doesn't have the same ring. Are your older (previous) posts going up?
Great direction for you. A truly wonderful work. These colors are too colorful for old Milford, but I see similarities in composition. Lots of movement.
I'm glad W.K. cleared up the discrepancy-somehow old James Milford Zornes had become Uncle Milty Zorn-whom I had incorrectly referred to on several occasions. Yikes I'm an idiot-but uncle Milfy is still a good painter.
Thank you Michele, I'm going to work in this direction- I love the Californian W/Cers. This is my first draft.
I like this alot too Ron. Good direction. I'm partial to boats. The seaguls add life and action and they are very well rendered.
This is the start of a style I always wanted to pursue, Robin, looser, more motion-birds, wind, heat,-summer days.
Ron,
I like this one a lot. Very dreamy and great placement of the birds.
Nice warm foreground set by cool distant background.
Thanks, Kee, I'm going to try and organize my thoughts about my painting. I want to add to my repertoire. I want to really paint with w/c rather than what I do now. But I have to do it with subject matter that I enjoy-I have always loved the bright breezy west coast style.(I might be making the west coast thing up-but it serves the purpose.)This sketch is a step in that direction.
I think you got the right idea.
