I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Ron.. Grey sky (love cloudy brooding skies) absolutely works with the famous greens to create 3D effect. Car really sits well in space and appears to obey all the laws of physics. And unless one is painting abstract or surreal the painting should have at least one foot in the realm of visual physical reality - no? Hey did you read my last post? Someone needs your help...
Nice rust effects on the car. Beautiful red and oranges against greens. My best friend has this car in all original condition without the visor. Same color too.
Right about your last comment. Your first line was pretty funny too. We are all so unique and different painters thats why it is so great and pleasure to look at everybodys work and get inspired by it.
Little too late but, Happy Birthday!
Hi Ron,
Nice one. I'm not 100% certain but, I believe that's a '49 Chevy.
Think I've seen this one before, maybe in my studio. Do you remember all the conversations about greens!!!
W.K., I don't know how much help I can be. I tried, maybe too hard, we'll see.
Kee, today is my birthday- I got a load of manure-no kidding, seriously. You have taken to this commenting thing like a fish to water. Send me a picture sometime of your buddies car. Thanks for the "happy birthday".
Thanks, Louis.
Yes, Dorothy, thank you for the reference material!
I was referring to your print, my reference material.
Happy birthday.. again. Hope you are enjoying your manure and other gifts. Funny - thought I'd get a green today but just went yellow.. Ha - funny .. ever since the pay thing I've gotten all yellows - and so few artists showing... I've just been given an egoectomy!
Relax W.K., mine just went red. I almost have a perverse sense of pride.
Ron,
Boy are you prolific! You've done 3 new paintings over the 3 day (for us here in the US) weekend. Guess I need to get to work. I like this one. The dark, threatening skies over the tired, worn out car. Great juxtaposition.
The boat docked is nice, too. A bit abstract with all the angular shapes.
Oh, and Happy Birthday!!! :-)
Michelle, I may have done them in three days but those three days were spread over 20 years. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
You're funny....
Thanks everybody for all the fun comments!
