Variations On A Theme

Fun with watercolour. Pick your fave and don't tell me to forget the cars and get to potatoing. Actually tell me any old thing, I need the attention. These to me are exercises in exploration and practicing the craft. Bink to blast.

Peach Cobbler

I could be an abstracter. I could do a video of potato on tile. Then I would be famous. Then people would pester me. I don't like people. Maybe I could just have them send money. Bink to Blow!

I have to actually work and take care of business and contrary to the silly idea on Daily Painters of producing more art and driving the prices so low that you will not recover the price of materials, I am going to paint less. Exercising- Vote For Favourite

The way that I think works best for me is to work out a composition and then pound it, paint it paint it paint it until I can paint it no more. Having established the compo I can explore different aspects of my palette, textures etc. I'm free to paint and of course I'm never satisfied but its my way of practicing the craft. Bink to blow and then vote.

Idea Version

This is an idea piece, the birds became better in the finished version, water on the left, water on the right? Just working it out. Bink to blow.

Collage 1986

I sat down to do a collage and proceeded to glue my fingers so I painted one instead. Bink to come unglued.

The Station

The buildings in this painting actually exist. When we were building a new bridge at Lytton, these buildings were at the north end of the bridge on the reserve. Everybody thought they were old buildings but in fact they were part of a movie set that was left standing and one houses a store. The name of the movie is "The Pledge" and it starred Jack Nicholson. These are all Fords rusticated. Green, green, the gangs all here. Blow it up!

Ford Cabriolet

I consider the painting that I have done to this point to be my apprenticeship requirements. I consider the paintings to be my "idea" bank. I think I may be ready to actually paint. However I don't feel much like painting. I'm finishing a commission and I'm doing concrete jobs. Putting up these posts gives me a chance to look at my life's work and then regret all the time I've wasted. This car will show up in a complete big painting later........Bink to expand on the subject!
