I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Ron.. i think this is my favorite boat painting you've produced. Has that impressionist touch - a perfect composition and color arrangement for me. the blue background is nicely rendered.

I like how the boat is stationary but looks like it really wants to move away. If boats could talk, they'd proabably take in water and sink...but this one would be screaming prayers for the ability to move.

Thanks, Grimm, its interesting to me how people see my paintings. The stories are fun because they add to the "life" of the piece. When I look at other people's work, I always check out quality first, content second. Maybe not 100% but I definitely look for good painting.I'm not much of an interpreter or story constructor. Even though I am a narrative painter and proud of it, I am amazed and flattered that my stuff inspires such anthropomorphic interpretation. I think that the conceit "if they could only talk" is a constant imperative. Maybe they are saying something within their obvious limitations by provoking speculation about their history and their present circumstances.
N.N., you have a talent for writing, maybe not for spelling. I used to be an editor- I know about such things. Now go write something.
Nobody's commented today so I will. This is something I drug up from the bottom of the vat. I don't get a good response very often on the DPs anymore. As we speak this one is rated solid green which is good. It will get pitched to recycle bin and never see daylight. Its a funny world, this art world.
I think I do that to all objects. I must get frustrated at the fact that they can't actually talk to me, so I imagine them doing so, just to test out a personality. Kind of like how we all refer to old broken cars as "dead".
Its funny, I view these characters as male, yet my motorcycle, which is big and powerful but since I "ride" it, its female.
I am leaving another because this is just so nice. Love the brushwork.
