I like old pickups. I like to paint'em. It really doesn't take much to amuse me. For a glimpse of the hidden world of the watercolour microcosm and also to see the painting bigger- bink away!

middle one again. the flourish of red in the BG brought through the back fender is a nice effect. And I mean nice as in superb.. as opposed to bambi nice. you back in from the cold?
Thanks W.K., I am back from the road trip and happily so.
I'd have to say middle, too. I like the bottom one, too, because the pickup is oddly focused, like it's very much THERE! if that makes any sense.
But the middle one makes me think you painted it as a dream.
Thanks Grimm, thats two for the middle one. This is fun, because I put the red one in at the top because I needed something for the DPs that I hadn't already posted. Too late, they scooped the first one of the last series. The red one needs a little finishing. When I painted the middle one I figured the discordant warm reds were goofy. I am of the opinion that since I'm not painting masterpieces, nor am I likely to, assessing these sketches on the basis of good compositional conformance was futile and really serves no purpose. I'm talking about me critiquing my own work. Another words, if red is at hand and it gets thrown in, caution to the wind: the question becomes,"does it look okay?" Now I know this is rank rationalization, laziness, ignorance, incompetence...at its worst. However if you guys can stand it, or actually like it, thats good enough for me. My bad habits thus encouraged, I'll carry on as a painting scofflaw.
The background for the Red truck is really nice. I can only see 2 paintings. Looks like the top painting is only partially there. Weird.
Thanks Michelle,oh oh, blog malfunction-alert the authorities! Who are the authorities?
Hi Ron - you know what a freak I am for the color green but today I'm seeing red! For some reason the top painting has caught my attention - love 'em all-
Thanks Cara, one for the red. Like on motorcycles- resale red? Paint it red and you'll sell it. I'm gonna slap a little red on everything from now on!
You paint 'em. We like 'em. Old trucks have a special place in my heart. They remind me of my Granddad's little farm when I was a kid (way back in the early to mid 1950's).
I have thought about it a long time and I just can't decide.
If it were really important to choose one I guess I would go for the last one. I like the background, it lets you use your imagination. Of course the glass is sweet too. But the reason I really went with the last one is becuase of the groove in the hood. Silly reason huh?
Thanks, B.J.,this truck is yours. I think pickups have a special place in my world - I have had old ones new ones, never been without.
Thanks, N.N., its as good a reason as any.
