Back of the Paper

I think this is one of my very favourite paintings - its painted on the back of a sheet of watercolour paper which doesn't take paint as well. Its also painted with scraps of opaque paint which do not lend themselves to co-operation. Expand my horizons by clicking.

Reminds me of some of Benton's work. He was a very very good painter .. gets a gold star! He was an American painter.. hope no offense - heh. Beauty of the heartland. A rich blend of architecture, landscape and metal.

My favourite painters are Americans, W.K, painters first, nationalities don't matter.

p.s. YOu and W.K. Moore could open a gallery together and between his and your subject matter..who needs anything more!

Thanks Sandy, so who's this Moore Guy? Oh that Moore, with his picture right there. He looks a little suspicious to me.

Ron, I can see why this is one of your favorites. The cars are wonderful, but the building is so well done...wonderful play of light on it. Supercool!!!

This is one of my fav's, too. You've perfectly captured the "just rained" feeling.

Yes, this one of my favorites, too. The colors are just wonderful. Were you experimenting when you used the wrong side of the paper? Seems right to me.

The sun hitting the roof looks really cool--natural, but vibrant...or violent, not sure which...
The rust looks like it's spreading in a leprous splatter across the cars.

Thanks Joan, I had the drawing so I just bashed it off, its probably the eight time I've painted it. Its my way of practicing.

Thanks Michelle, drip, drip, did you see the dogs? Its painting time for you...

Thanks B.J., the back of the sheet has pockets instead of bumps and it is not good for painting.
