I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Ron, These might not be your favorite colors, but they look super in this one! Nice job on the rust and the grasses. I love the background misty effect, almost like the morning dew rising from the land.

Have you tried painting on Yupo synthetic paper yet? I think you could do some really cool things with it. I just tried it for the first time and had a lot of fun with it. It forces you to be pretty loose. It's on my blog if you'd like to see it.
Thanks Joan, it was an exercise in using some colours which I normally wouldn't use, the combinations are still not what I would use because they become opaque very quickly. I enjoyed the self-imposed challenge.

another good one Ron. It's kind of weird but I kind of like this one small better then the large one. Maybe it's because I can see the whole thing better. I dunno.

Ron - This is beautiful! I have a hard time not mixing up the same old colors time and time again - sometimes I find myself wondering why nothing looks fresh - oh yeah - same paint, different subject. Duh!
Thanks Cara, a lot of the time I just use whatever comes to hand, but this time I picked colours I almost never use.
Nice to see your newest Ron. I like the warm kind of caramelized colors in your palette. The colors are crisp and the car blends well with the background foliage. You have also employed focused and diffused passages to create a real cool three dimensional space.
Thanks W.K., I used Payne's grey, yellow ochre and burnt sienna, three of my least favourite colours and painted on the back of a sheet of arches just to make it a challenge.
Personally, I love it. Just seeing your work brought back a lot of memories as my often-homeless family and I lived in one just like this back in the 60's.
