I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

I am always amazed at how you can put together these alternate realities so convincingly, Ron. And with such beauty! ( I guess if you're going to create an alternate reality, it may as well be beautiful!)
Thanks Liz, I really don't know how I fell into creating my own scenes but I enjoy doing it. I have trouble copying things, its just no fun for me.
I think this one is a wonderful mix of your 'fantasy colored cars' and your new 'gritty' style. Do you plan the colors ahead, or does it just come to you as you paint? I've always wondered about that. This is just scrumptious. Always love the flotsam and jetsam floating in the grass too.
Thanks Tracy, I think the reason why I have always enjoyed painting cars and old stuff is that I can play with colour any ol way I want. I get all excited about painting the silly things cuz I can just let'er rip. I don't think any other subject would allow me so much lattitude.
This one has a really nice feeling to it. The shadows and colors are just right. The bright spot on the car on the right creates interest without being distracting. The house in the back is very well done, too.
Ron the only thing I love more than the painting is the title - this is a wonderful piece of work -
Thanks Michelle, it was in a pile that was under my daughter's bed. I took some shots and there was some okay stuff.
Thanks Cara, more members were added and it became the painting below, I will post some versions of the bigger painting that I also found under DD1's bed, that I like later on. (Darling Daughter No.1)
Cool (warm) highlight on the door. Nice composition.
Thanks W.K., Its the start of "The Over the Hill Gang".
love these kind. I really like the dark green on the left car.
(I keep meaning to try to get a picture of something that reminded me of you. There is one house that has an old car. Been there a while, but the other day there was a tow truck dropping off another old car. Same body style...his yard will look like your paintings soon)
Thanks N.N., get pics, send pics, ice picks, quick pics, topics, tropics...sorry....it would be fun to get some pics.
