Impasto Watercolour

Gesso or White Acrylic, Slip Sliding Away

I opened the bottom drawer and took out my jar of gesso, it was solid as an ice cube but not as inclined to melt. So I slapped a coat of white acrylic on an old failed painting and played...I think if I sanded the white or varied the brush strokes a little when shellacking on the white it might be something I could work with...

Is this on canvas or watercolor paper? There is definitely potential there.

Painting on gesso is a challenge. I like the neat effect that you created here.

Thanks, Kathy, I actually used white acrylic paint...seems to work just the same...

You never quit inventing something new in your work, Ron…
It was a great experiment for this painting! I think it looks well compatible of watercolour and acrylic; moreover, they boost each other. Also you created it interesting with your brushstrokes. I love these textures especially the background as if you painted it on cave-rock!
