I love seeing watercolors of boats. I think it's got something to do with the water involved with both.

Thanks, Grimm, if you look at my gallery on the DPs there are quite a few boats. Or go back in the posts.

Really nice. Again, great light and shadows.

Hi Ron.. I like the yellow dominance. I've been reading some color theory lately - from the famous artist school, been learning a lot from their approach. Other color theory has left me cold, but I can get get into the FA stuff. Mostly common sense application but good to know on a book level. This work has a nice finished quality to it.

Thanks, Michelle, I guess these things are glorified value studies- I have always thought that when I learn how to paint I will return to these pre-studies and do them properly.

Thanks, W.K. colour theory is different for watercolourists because of the compositional differences in the constituent elements of watercolour pigments. Its not so much that the theory is different, its that how you achieve harmony, effect or discord is subject to your knowledge of how watercolours will react with one another. The practical nature of mixing watercolours is ignored by classical notions of colour theory. The best book I ever read about colour mixing is "Blue and Yellow Don't Make Green" by Michael Wilcox

I enlarged this an was amazed (as always) to watch how you handle your medium. Nice painting -

Thanks, Cara- I wish I had pictures of the paintings that I didn't take pictures of. Now that is a sentence.
