I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Hey is it back to you and me? Ha! Just kidding. Another good boat work here with the signature Ron characteristics. I don't know about you but I have a full-time job and it's difficult to do the more involved work as I would like. I'm thinking of not changing my posts everyday and wait till I get something special off the board. I've been spending a lot of time doing quick paintings for the purpose of posting daily. It's nice to have something new every day.. but there is a price to pay and I think the better work suffers.
I'm a scatter painter I think, W.K. in that it takes me time to work out my big paintings. I can do the character studies of single cars or whatever, but I have done so many that its not that exciting anymore. I don't always work my way from small to big in a direct path, there are detours (fuckups?) along the way so it takes time. Each stage requires adjustments. On the other hand I don't like to endlessly fiddle with details either. Basically I just like to see what will happen with the paint.
The commenters will be back its just a lull- we have two of the best blogs to comment on in the whole blogosphere.

For my part, sorry about the lull, I got a little busy. Spring cleaning, you know.
That boat used to take kids to school? I would have killed for a school BOAT instead of a school BUS.
I like how the boat kind of looks like it sat at the bottom of a lake--but only for about a week or so, not long enough to become a breeding ground for algae.

this one is really nice...your cars have such a familiar, cozy feel to them, even though they are abandoned and rundown...I really like your pallete!

Thanks, Holly, F.U.B. has been a member of my palette forever but I always seem to run out. My favourite blues are cerulean, cobalt, winsor blue green shade, and manganese blue.
