I started painting with watercolours in 1976 with a set of pans that I had left over from high school. I've always loved the shapes and colours of old vehicles as they settle in for the long rust. I especially enjoy creating scenes using characters I have collected over the years. These paintings are from my imagination. Check out the sales blog under "Links and Friends".

Nice Ron.. I like that color green in the background trees. What you using these days to get your greens. And if that is a secret.. we have our ways!
Thanks W.K., I mix my dark greens with winsor blue green shade plus any one of the following: burnt umber
raw umber
raw sienna
no burnt sienna
this one kinda freaked me out a little bit. You know, becuase of the different angle (ok im easily freaked out)
anyway, i like seeing how it cantilevers. They really balanced this one on the pile.
umm, i think i better stop talking now!
Thanks N.N. "They" being me.
I love color recipes - especially for greens. Looks like I need to break out my H2O's and try this one. There's no winsor blue in oil or acrylic that I can find.
Its Thalo blue, B.J.
Love the painting and love the title. I was unaware of the rust pageant.
Thanks Carol, I appreciate you stopping by.
hello dad i will be in prauge tomorow and will not be able to call for days. i am blogging you in response to a terrifying and perhaps prophetic dream i had whilst napping after breakfast fry-up. the dream stared an extremely stressed-out and pennyless version of myself who's student loan funds had not arrived because specific forms were not signed and mailed. do you know what i am talking about? the forms attached to the loan application that have not been signed need to be signed right away. previously we decided we could leave the forms, but this is incorrect. if you could sign these and mail them as soon as possible that would be great, they need to be signed before the money will be put into my account. i recently did some on-line research in regards to this matter. also tell mom to put 60$ from my royal bank account or my cibc account on to my credit card tomorow or as soon as possible. sorry i am annoying, everything is great ect...
love lana
Ron - you are incredibly blessed -now sign the dang forms ASAP!
this one really turns my crank Ron!
Thanks Nick, fun to have you visit. I'm just feeding the blog, these are older paintings. I think you would like the big four footers in real life as they are much more interesting. These single cars are more in the nature of studies. Just playin with the paint. I'm not a big fan of these literal paintings, they're okay, but the one's that I am happiest with are the pileups and group portraits. They take a long time to invent and evolve. They aren't perfect and are mostly successful failures. They are the ones where the most profound use of the medium occurs.
This one is reeeeally good.
I like your composition here. That piece of metal leads right up to the dent. Nice colors as always!!
Thanks Michelle, I used glycerin and was able to do some lifting.
Thanks Joan, this subject has appeared in a few bigger paintings.
