Hot August Day
Bink link to blow..up!
http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...s/IMG_1875.jpg
On a hot August day fifty years ago there was blood and glass on a sandy road above the river canyon. Beer and whiskey bent this car on a tree and a girl with raven hair was killed.
When I find wrecks, occasionally I wonder how they met the end of their useful lives. I have been on that sandy road and I have felt the cold touch of something as I take pictures. And I think I can see that blood. And there is always glass...

'Who did you say it was, brother?
Who was it fell by the way?
When whiskey and blood run together,
I didn't hear nobody pray...'
Great picture and story Ron...you have carefully lead us on this automotive saga all these months and years to reveal to us the truth about Satan's Chariots; that they are relentless killing and maiming machines of such magnitude that they put terrorism, space junk and crimal activity to shame, and are perhaps only surpassed by disease, war, and famine. I think that must be one of the multitude of appealing aspects of your vehicle paintings; they are depicted in 'graveyards' of sorts and evoke a feeling of security in us all.
Isn't it funny how we sometimes feel safe and powerful when we're in our car, when really it's probably the riskiest thing we do every day. My brother was in a car accident when he was in high-school. He walked away with nary a scratch. The driver was blinded for life and another kid's neck was broken. They were all in the same car. The mistake was running a stop sign.
Another nice painting and story. I like the cool color palette you've used on this one.
Thanks Clive, I just like to paint'em.
Thanks michelle, just going for looser gooser purpler...
It kind of looks like it is fading away..
Hi N.N., Is that you? What have you been up to...fill us in.
Okay...that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and scream...I spend WAY too much time alone to read ghost stories! Nice one though...havin' fun?
Yes!
Excellent!
Ron, you are developing a morbid streak.;) what gets me are the carefully tended homemade crosses along the sides of highways. the absolute worst are the little ones next to a larger one...or two. you just know they commemorate lost children and possibly an entire family.
Thanks Billie, morbid...who me?
Could this be one of my favorites? I think so. And I always love your stories..
Always love catching up here.
